Growing up my bedtime stories would all be of oppression
Segregation it spoke while others had their happy endings
My dreams who followed the stars,
Cry for their singing no longer ceases of restrictions,
From the uncultured swine
Men dressed in skies speak of justice and this equality
A liberty only a statue
When "chocolate brown" becomes the new black
and cultured skin is now just a fad
They sing of the end
Women torn of their braids
Straight roots of dark tipped ends
Women wont you sing of your end
Men separated by color before color even entered their minds
Oh men wont you sing of your end
Children all molded from one
Believe that white is just white and black is just black
but gray is never a thing,
Or else its just social suicide.
Children who never even knew of a beginning sing of your end.
For every prayer we pray cannot be heard as one verse
Our nighttime tales only we can mend
Brothers and sisters
Creations of God and His nature
Men of every color why be separated?
Let us run in this race together.
